Ravichandran Ashwin abandons Kapil Dev by asserting 64 wickets in India's home season

Ravichandran Ashwin created yet another record as the became

on Day 2 of first Test match.

Pune: Premier Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin added yet another plume to his top when he expelled Australia's Mitchell Starc on Day 2 of the primary Test match being played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.


Starc's wicket was Ashwin's 64th scalp in India's home season with which he abandoned previous World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev, who had guaranteed 63 wickets in 1979-80.

On Day 1, Ashwin guaranteed two major wickets of captain Steve Smith (27) and Matthew Renshaw (68).

Continuing play at 256/9, Australia added five more rushes to their count after Starc hit Ashwin for a limit over past long-on. In any case, Ashwin had the last giggle when Starc endeavored a trudge range, which went straight to the defender at profound midwicket.
